Ten Ways For the Swim Parent to Sabotage Their Child’s Swimming Career

Please read the following article by John Leonard, Executive Director of the American Swimming Coaches Association. It gives helpful hints on how parents can best support their swimmer(s), and we promise you will laugh a little too.

Swim-A-Thon New Date! ***

This year the swimathon and ice cream social date is Friday, February 12th (6-8pm) at Atkinson Pool.

Download the swim-a-thon pledge sheet to use when collecting pledges from friends and family.  Parents and siblings are invited to swim along

Team Banquet

The banquet date is Thursday, March 25 -- (6:30 - 8:30 pm) -- not the 18th (we had to postpone it one week due to Curtis play)

Technique Swim Camp

At Harvard and Northeastern Universities. You can see the specifics at www.techswimcamp.com.  The specific focus of the camp is on stroke technique, mental discipline, race strategy and strengthening exercises, while also emphasizing respect, cooperation and most importantly, the element of having fun while swimming.

Reminders

Please remember that practices begin at the following times:  5:00, 5:45, and 6:45 pm.  Arriving 5-10 minutes early is a good rule of thumb.

Please label everything (suits, fins, goggles, towels) with a sharpie!

Please have all girls and boys with long hair wear a cap to practice.

Please bring water bottles to practice.

Please pick up your children within 15 minutes of the practice ending.  This is especially important for the last practice group!

The Sudbury Swim Team is a competitive swim team open to the youth of Sudbury and surrounding towns. The team aspires to create an environment where the swimmers enjoy the experience of competitive swimming through improvement of their stroke and racing techniques, improved personal race times, appreciation of the team friendships and team spirit.  To this end, the program is designed to maximize personal enjoyment and improvement. We hope that each swimmer will take full advantage of the team experience.
