Registration
Registration for the Sudbury Swim Team is offered to from July 1 – September 1 each year online. Swimmers must be between the ages of 7-17 as of November 1, 2009 and completed the upper levels of Red Cross swimming instruction. Swimmers must meet the minimum swim requirements to earn a place on the team. Swimmers must be able to dive off the block and swim the freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. There is leniency demonstrated to younger swimmers who may not be completely competent with the butterfly stroke.
Priority is given to returning swimmers from the previous season. Then, depending on available spaces within each age/sex category, we accept new swimmers based on age group assessments, or “try-outs,” in October. We take Sudbury residents first and then children from surrounding towns. If your child does not make the team this year, we will send a refund. Swimmers must register each year.
We will only accept as many children in each category as the team can responsibly handle.
We ask that you seriously consider the team commitment of 20 weeks, 2 practices a week and a required attendance at 6 of the 9 dual meets as well as required participation at the championships in March. We realize that there are unavoidable conflicts that will occur, but we hope and expect that team spaces will be well used given the large number of children in our community who are waiting to swim. Thus, we are asking the swimmer and their families to make this commitment so that the maximum number of children who want to swim, can take advantage of the program.
2009 Parent Meeting:
We will hold our annual mandatory parent meeting at the Curtis Middle School Auditorium in Sudbury on Wednesday, October 28, 2009. The season officially begins on Monday, November 2, 2009.
